Location: Inverness

Working with Directors and Business Unit Managers, you’ll assist in the preparation of our sales and marketing plan. You’ll be responsible for our marketing database, events programme and digital communications strategy – which includes our corporate website, e-shots, social media campaigns, newsletters and point of sale advertising materials.

Key responsibilities:

  • deliver our sales and marketing plan - delivering on KPI levels and responding to market needs.
  • develop, manage and implement a client retention and existing customer communications plan (KAM). 
  • measure customer satisfaction. 
  • work with designers and external suppliers to produce marketing materials.
  • Identify and communicate with new prospects – generating viable sales leads.
  • have CRM oversight.
  • take responsibility for KPI reporting and produce a monthly marketing activity report.
  • support the full sales process - including diary management and arrangements for the sales team.
  • prepare tenders. 
  • administer telesales activity to generate appointments.


With a relevant degree, diploma or recognised marketing qualification, you’ll ideally also have:
  • a proven track record in a marketing role.
  • experience in compiling sales and marketing plans and schedules.
  • knowledge of Key Account Management and telesales methods.
  • good communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • good inter-personal skills and experience in managing people.

What might a typical day in this job look like?

Initially, we require your support in maintaining our administrative systems and in providing excellent customer service across the business. This might include: 
  • Data entry into spreadsheets and databases. 
  • Recording data for company quality management systems. 
  • Sourcing relevant information from clients and energy suppliers. 
  • Gathering and distributing required data for business reports. 
  • Assisting with credit control procedures. 
  • Ordering stationery and sundries. 
  • Organising repairs and office suppliers (waste, extinguishers, cleaners 
  • etc). 
  • Carrying out and recording health & safety test and checks. 
  • Organising meetings and appointments. 
  • Customer liaison, including welcoming visitors to the premises. 
  • Receiving and responding to incoming calls and enquiries. 
  • Providing support in all other tasks as required. 
In the longer term, you could find yourself remaining in a business support role, or perhaps looking after a group of clients, maybe you'll be 'on the road' in a sales role, or perhaps analysing market data and reviewing relevant energy & environmental legislation for our clients. It will depend on what particular talents you have, and what the business needs in the future.

What will I learn?

You'll learn and experience all the essential skills required in the workplace, including how to be an effective team player, how to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, using IT such as Word & Excel for business, managing your time and many others. In particular, you will learn in detail about how the energy markets work and the many environmental issues facing businesses today.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Ideally, National 4 or 5. More importantly, it's your personal qualities we want, and you should be hard working, enthusiastic to learn, very reliable and adaptable. We expect you to be a good listener and learn from the experience of your colleagues. A successful candidate will work towards Modern Apprenticeship level 2/3 in Business & Administration, supported by a registered training provider during the placement.
